360° Streichquartett
immersive audiovisual space
In 2014 Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invited us to create an exhibition for the 360° Festival with the focus on "string quartet". Each year it features a different theme and experiments with formats that extends the established concert situation.
The central element is an immersive space, dark in the inside and illuminated from the outside. Inside the sound of two violins, a cello and a viola a played each from one corner of a the space. Moving through the dark space led by the sense of hearing, the visitor could experience a new perspective of the dynamics of a string quartet.
Outside the central installation we created smaller exhibits that translated the music pieces artistically.
Around the installation the tracked movements of the bows were translated into drawings of light.
